2011 Haynes Old Block Pinot Noir
Beautifully maturity, humus, forest floor, pine needles, savory hints of bacon, mouthwatering, baked cherry pie, brighter aromatics open up with airing, minute by minute. The palate is remains lively with layers of red licorice, black tea, and echos of cherry/berry fruit. The long, reverberating finish continues to deliver this savory wine inviting a repeat performance.
2013 Haynes Old Block Pinot Noir
A more lifted floral expression reminiscent of our other 2013s. Lavender, Earl Grey tea, pie cherry, cola and hints of licorice. Textured on the palate with underlying structure expected from the vintage. Brighter fruit and orange peel lingers. Still room for development here, but drinking beautifully now.
2016 Haynes Old Block Pinot Noir
Much more primal as compared to the older pair. Cherry pie, orange spice tea, asian plum in the nose then reverberates on the palate. Creamy vanillin with sweet fruit texture speaks to the elegant approach of this wine. The finish is a little crimped at first, then gradually opens indicative of the potential benefits of time. One is left with a mouthful of juicy elegant flavors dancing on the tongue with promises of more to come.
2017 Haynes Old Block Pinot Noir
We move on from the cerebral, even ethereal for the hedonistic as we imbibe the 2017. This sexy wine coats the palate, moving away from the elegant perfume of the previous wines and more towards the sensual and mouth coating ripe fruit notes with texture between silk and velvet. Very enjoyable now, but surprises await as the finish completes its journey.
2018 Haynes Old Block Pinot Noir
Recognizable as Haynes, but still sorting itself out. Beautifully balanced and elegant if slightly restrained. Familiar orange spice, tea notes and the friendly coating texture of Haynes are here. Enjoy it for its balance and freshness, but lay it down for more depth and length, this one has more to offer in the years ahead.
